What are safety scanners?

Safety scanners are also known as safety laser scanners, sentinel laser scanners or laser scanners. They fall under the category of photoelectric safety devices, since they probe the immediate vicinity using a laser signal thereby creating two-dimensional protection or warning fields. The protection and/or warning zones can be defined via parametrisation software. This means that it is possible to stop all machine movements when entering a protection zone and eliminate the associated hazards.

In contrast, when entering the warning fields, signals can be triggered by acoustic and optical signal towers, such as signal towers.
