Residual Current Operated Circuit Breakers
Residual current operated circuit breakers - for safe handling of current
The residual current operated circuit breaker - also called RCCB or RCD - detects fault currents and switches all poles of the plant off. The device triggers as soon as the so-called fault current (imbalance between output and input current) occurs. It protects people, animals and material objects.
Combined devices with integrated circuit-breaker (RCCBs) protect both the cable and people, in particular in wet rooms where they are often used.
Use of residual current operated circuit breakers
Residual current circuit breakers are used in several areas due to their imperative task. They are used for example as:
- Protection in the event of direct contact
- Fire protection
- Protection for people and material objects
